Champion the Next Generation of STEM Leaders with Pinnacle Scholarships

Athena champions the next generation of women leaders in science and technology with its annual Pinnacle Scholarships.

Each year, merit-based scholarships are awarded to 5 qualified graduating high school senior women in San Diego County. Winners receive their scholarships at our annual Pinnacle Awards dinner in May. 

Donate to the Pinnacle Scholarship Fund

Individuals, companies, and foundations can help young women with promising futures in science or technology by donating to the Pinnacle Scholarship Fund. The Pinnacle Scholarship Fund is managed by the Athena Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, and our partner the San Diego Foundation.

How to Apply for an Athena Pinnacle Scholarship 

The Athena Foundation was formed with our partner, the San Diego Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, to support the next generation of women leaders in science and technology through our annual Pinnacle Scholarships

Each year, these merit-based scholarships are awarded to five (5) qualified graduating high school senior women. The scholarships are presented at our annual Pinnacle Awards dinner on Thursday, May 3, 2018. 

Pinnacle Scholarships are awarded to high-school senior class women planning to enter a four-year university with the goal of a career in the sciences, math, or engineering. Outstanding applicants are well-rounded women who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership in school organizations, and community involvement. 

To apply, students must: 

  • Fill out the scholarship application form
  • Provide an official copy of their high school transcript
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a counselor or teacher at their school 

Applications for 2018 will be accepted from December 2017 through March 5, 2018. Submissions must be made by mail (no online application process is provided, and no emailed applications will be accepted.) Scholarship applications are reviewed and considered by a group of Athena members.
